Ngapali

Ngapali in Myanmar is a real beachside paradise still largely untouched by mass tourism. Located in Rakhine State along the Bay of Bengal, this stretch of coastline features pristine white sand beaches lined with tall palm trees and clear turquoise waters. Unlike the busy beaches of Thailand, Ngapali offers a more relaxed atmosphere where visitors can truly unwind.

The local fishing villages add authenticity to the experience, with fishermen heading out in their colorful boats at dawn and returning with the day's catch that ends up in the beachfront restaurants by evening. The seafood here is incredibly fresh and prepared with traditional Burmese flavors.

Ngapali got its name from the Italian city of Naples, reportedly named by a homesick Italian who was reminded of his hometown. The best time to visit is during the dry season from October to May, as many businesses close during the monsoon months.

Despite its growing popularity among travelers seeking off-the-beaten-path destinations, Ngapali has maintained its laid-back charm. The area is spread across several small bays, with the main beach stretching about 3 kilometers. Electricity used to be limited to certain hours, though infrastructure has improved in recent years - but that's part of what keeps this place special and unspoiled.
